Maths Challenge

Well done to all our super mathematicians who took part in the Mathematics Challenge for Young Australians at the end of last term. The program provided students with a series of problems to work through and allowed them to collaborate and discuss strategies in small groups.  Congratulations on your effort and hard work completing this challenging challenge!

S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G B-E-E

Congratulations to everyone who had a go in today’s Premier’s Spelling Bee event. It was wonderful to have so many students be brave and give it a shot. It was a tough event, with our 4 top spellers – Emma, Celeste, Noah, and Chelsea battling it out for the top spot. Well done to Chelsea who claimed 1st place, followed by Noah in 2nd, and Emma and Celeste equal 3rd. Chelsea and Noah will join our Stage 2 winners in representing our school at the regional finals later this term. Certificates for all participants will be awarded at Monday’s assembly. Thank you to the parents and grandparents who came along to watch and support our children.

Chess Champions!

Congratulations to all our super chess players who did an amazing job representing our school at the Interschool Chess Challenge today at HSPA. We won the primary division, earning us a place in the semi-finals next term and also had the top 6 highest scoring players in the tournament! Well done Jamie (1st), Noah (2nd), Hunter (3rd), Connor (4th), Akira (5th) and Ty (6th). A great result today and also excellent sportsmanship, camaraderie and enthusiasm. Congratulations, everyone!

Speak Off

Congratulations to Olivia and Ember, who were the winners of our Stage 3 Speak Off, and to Georgie and Jules, who were the winners of our Stage 2 Speak Off. It was a very tough competition with so many wonderful speakers. A shout out to Nyah and Hunter, who represented 5B and did a wonderful job. I was incredibly proud of all our speakers, as it can be quite nerve-wracking having to talk in front of such a large group of people, both in class and at the Speak Off. Olivia, Ember, Georgie, and Jules will now represent our school at a variety of public speaking competitions later this year with Mrs Derricott.
