Interview Task

Welcome to 2017 and 6B! It is going to be an action-packed year! To kick us off is an interview task that links with our History unit this term,  for students to complete at home and present in class next week. Regular homework will begin next week. If you have any questions, please feel free to come and see Mrs B 🙂

Class Speeches – Term 4

Today students in 5B were given their task description for their Speaking & Listening task for Term 4. The topic for this term’s speech is Free Choice. I encourage any student to approach me well before the due date (Week 8) for assistance or feedback on researching, drafting, editing, and presenting their speech and multimedia presentation. Looking forward to the topics that 5B are going to talk about! Below is a digital copy of the task and the marking rubric.

Tips:

  • Make a plan to work on a little bit of your task each afternoon (e.g. Tuesday – 10 minutes research, Wednesday – 15 minutes highlighting and summarising information, etc.) so that you do not leave your task to the last minute.
  • Ask your parents or teacher for help where needed, but do not depend on them to do it for you 🙂

Term 3 Homework

The Homework page has been updated with activities for this term which relate to our different areas of study. It also includes the Speaking & Listening Task for Term 3, which is due in Week 6. This task requires students to research a political party in preparation for their speech. I would recommend making small goals and ticking off a small bit each day, rather than leaving it to the last minute to complete. If at any point you need assistance with this task, please come and see me 🙂 I am very happy to help. I am looking forward to hearing your campaign speeches, 5B!

Homework

Thank you, 5B, for your efforts in this term’s Speaking & Listening Task on Extreme Weather Phenomena. For the remainder of Term 2, I have updated your Homework grid. There is a printable copy if you click on this link: Homework T2. It has tasks relating to what we are learning about this term. The Homework grid can also be located on the Homework page. If you have any questions, please let me know. Enjoy!

Homework T2

History: interviewing someone who has moved to Australia

For homework this term, and as part of our history unit on Immigration, students were asked to interview someone that has immigrated to Australia. This afternoon, India spoke to an old family friend, Christine, who came to Australia with her husband, Willem, from Belgium and Holland in the 1970s. It is wonderful to hear from people who have moved to, and made, this country their home. Thank you to Christine for sharing her story, and to India and her family, for organising and recording this fantastic interview.
