World of Maths!

Students from K-6 enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities to boost their problem-solving skills. Thank you to Mr Ed for visiting us with your World of Maths!

Planetarium

Today, 6B had their visit to the Planetarium. We got to crawl through a dark tunnel to get inside, which was super cool. Once we were inside the Planetarium, we learnt all about the celestial objects in the sky that we can see, including stars, the Sun, the moon, other planets. We looked at different constellations and how to locate them among the other stars. It was a fantastic experience and I was incredibly impressed with the knowledge and enthusiasm that 6B displayed today. It has been wonderful to see just how much they are getting out of our Solar System and Space unit this term. Yay, Science!

Planetarium Experience

To tie in with our Science unit this term on the Solar System we have a terrific opportunity for all our students with an incursion to the Planetarium. 6B’s visit is booked in for Tuesday 30th May (next week), so please ensure your note and payment has been returned. It’s going to be out of this world!

Questacon Science Circus

This week, the circus was in town – the Science Circus, that is. Tighes Hill PS were treated to an awesome display of science experiments from the brilliant minds at Questacon. Here are some highlights below:

Musica Viva!

Students in K-6 were delighted by the Makukuhan performers for Musica Viva. They listened to and performed a variety of Indonesian songs and dances, including many instruments. Ms Hibbert has been working with classes on Indonesian songs this term. The performance today was a fantastic opportunity for students to meet professional musicians and build on their understanding of Indonesian music and culture.

Thank you to the wonderful musicians who performed for us today. The students thoroughly enjoyed the show. A special thanks to the Tighes Hill P&C for making this experience possible for our students. Below are some photos from the Musica Viva performance:
