Homework

Homework is designed for students to practice concepts learnt at school, without taking up too much time in the evening. Parents and teachers can work together in order to ensure children are getting the most out of this experience.  6B are provided with a Homework Menu each week, with a variety of activities directly related to concepts being studied at school that week. Homework is compulsory, but the activities can be negotiated between students and their parents. Homework is handed out at the beginning of each school week on Mondays, and the previous week’s Homework is also collected then, allowing students the weekend to complete any tasks that they do not have time to do during the week.

Each term, students may be asked to complete a project relating to areas of study in class (e.g. class speech, etc.). If there is any way that I can help, or if you have any questions regarding Homework and Assignments, please come and see me. Below is a copy of Bookish Bingo and the class speech task for this term:

How parents can help:

  • Spend time with your child before they begin their homework to plan and organise (sequencing tasks and allocating time)
  • If your child is struggling to complete their homework, do not push them to complete tasks. This will only add to their stress and make homework a negative experience for them. Instead, please come and speak with me.
  • Give positive feedback and praise children when they have completed tasks.
