Harmony Day

While the weather wasn’t exactly harmonious today, our students had a wonderful time celebrating Harmony Day. It was lovely to see so many orange and cultural dress outfits at Tighes Hill today! Students worked together to create beautiful worry dolls and rock art that represent each of their individual identities and cultures. A huge thank you to our generous families who brought in food to share and to our wonderful family helpers who assisted in serving food at lunch.

Chess Champions!

Congratulations to all our super chess players who did an amazing job representing our school at the Interschool Chess Challenge today at HSPA. We won the primary division, earning us a place in the semi-finals next term and also had the top 6 highest scoring players in the tournament! Well done Jamie (1st), Noah (2nd), Hunter (3rd), Connor (4th), Akira (5th) and Ty (6th). A great result today and also excellent sportsmanship, camaraderie and enthusiasm. Congratulations, everyone!

Easter Hat Parade

A huge thank you to our incredibly generous families for their donations to our annual Easter Raffle. We raised over $1000, which will go towards supporting the numerous Creative and Performing Arts programs in our school. 6B looked fantastic in their Easter hats and a few of our class members cleaned up big time at the Easter Raffle! Please enjoy these photos and videos from the day.
Happy Easter and I hope you all have a happy and safe break. See you in Term 2!

Tigh-Wizard Tournament

What a magical day! Congratulations to all of our students who did an amazing job today during our first ever Tigh-Wizard Tournament. We were so impressed by the effort and creativity of costumes – you all looked awesome! We started the tournament off with a fashion parade where teams strutted down the runway displaying their costumes and beautifully designed team crests. Everyone actively took part in the many challenges we had on offer including Maths Mayhem, Maze Runner STEM, Sporting Circuits, Speaking ‘Um’ Challenge, and a range of tricky trivia tasks. Well done to Team Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children who placed 1st at the end of the day, closely followed by Team Star Wars in 2nd and Team Harry Potter in 3rd. Thank you for a fantastically fun day, what a great way to finish off the term!

Harmony Day

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate Harmony Day at Tighes Hill PS today. It was so wonderful to see so many kids dressed in orange and traditional dress and talking about why they had chosen their outfits. Our Year 6 students got the chance to be mini teachers today and visit other classes and help students create their own personalised boomerang artworks with a variety of Aboriginal symbols and Maori symbols and patterns. These boomerangs are going to be displayed at school in an art display set up by Mrs Derricott. We shared a harmonious lunch with our families and my goodness was there a lot of food! There were so many dishes from different cultures and everyone was very keen to try something new. Thank you so much to our generous families for the amazing food you brought in and shared today. After lunch, we enjoyed performances from all year groups, as well as our Junior and Senior Choirs, led by our talented Miss Hibbert. Please enjoy these photos and videos from our Harmony Day celebrations below.
